Los Angeles County landlords owning properties in unincorporated Los Angeles County can only raise rents 3.00% annually through December 2019. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted to extend the rent control moratorium, which was set to expire in June 2019.
The moratorium affects apartment buildings built before 1995. In addition to rent control, the moratorium only allows certain reasons for an eviction. Unincorporated Los Angeles county includes communities such as East Los Angeles, La Crescenta, Altadena, Valinda, East Whittier, Hacienda Heights, Montrose, South San Gabriel, South Whittier, among other neighborhoods.
